The University of South Australia Law School is pleased to announce a one-day workshop in memory of our colleague, Professor Ivan Shearer AM RFD.
The workshop will be held on Monday, 9 December 2019.
The workshop is open to all academics and practitioners with an interest in international law. We would particularly encourage submissions from early career academics, in recognition of Professor Shearer’s always generous mentorship of young scholars.
In addition to the academic presentations, the workshop will include personal reflections on Professor Shearer’s life from friends and family. The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG is confirmed to open proceedings with his personal reflections on Professor Shearer’s life and career.
The organizers would be pleased to accept short (3,000-5,000 word) papers on the following
The works of Professor Ivan Shearer
The law of the sea
International courts and tribunals
Australia’s contribution to international law
Military and naval law
The United Nations Human Rights Committee
Interested participants should email a short abstract or description of the work by
8 November 2019 to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Participants whose paper has been accepted will be notified no later than 15 November
There are no fees to participate in this Workshop. Participants are, however, responsible for securing their own funding for travel and lodging.
